- Brief overview of Glendower Apartments
Press Release and overview December 2024 Glendower Guest Apartments on Commercial Road in Dereham has been offering overnight and short stay accommodation since 2012. The property including the main house and 6 letting properties was purchased by the current owner in 2006 since when it has been extensively renovated and extended. The Victorian courtyard adjacent to the main house originally provided tenanted accommodation, but over the years these individual properties were taken back in hand as tenants moved on, and then upgraded to provide comfortable overnight and short stay guest accommodation. 3 further apartments were built that blend in perfectly with the historic original building. In the early days breakfast was available, however as each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen the business moved to a self-catering model. This move was made much easier because Glendower is located in Dereham town centre where there are many café’s within easy walking distance providing excellent breakfasts. Additionally being directly opposite to a supermarket (which also has a café) provides easy and quick access to all the provisions needed for a self catering stay. Since opening its doors in 2012 many thousands of guests have stayed at Glendower from all walks of life with a multitude of reasons for staying, the most consistent of which include; • Visiting friends and family • Working in the area • Leisure/Tourism For all types of guests the apartments are very highly rated on all booking platforms and ratings sites. For visiting guests the privacy and security of a dedicated self contained apartment scores highly in their estimation. For guests who are visiting for work in Dereham or the local area the fact that most apartments have 2 bedrooms (a double and a twin) means that the apartment cost per-head is extremely competitive when compared to a single occupancy hotel room. For tourists Glendower provides the perfect central base from which to explore all of Norfolk and enjoy annual events such as the Thursford Spectacular, The MNR Polar Express and the Dereham Blues Festival. Another feature that’s proved important for visiting guests is the availability of multiple apartments at the same place – this has attracted many families and groups that are attending friend and family events/celebrations such as Weddings, Birthdays, Anniversaries etc. If booked in good time some groups book the whole complex for their event, which allows guests to mingle and share the experience of being close together during their stay, popping between apartments and cooking group BBQ’s. In 2020 The Cock pub , just 200 yards from Glendower, was added into the mix – providing visiting guests with a cosy, friendly and traditional pub to enjoy a drink close by. In late 2024 The Cock moved into new ownership but the strong bond established over the years remains as both businesses cooperate together to provide additional resources to guests visiting Dereham. The Cock also adds a further guest apartment ‘Drayman’s Rest’ into the Glendower portfolio. For the future Glendower continues to strive and improve, with a continual program of renewal and new ideas. One example of this is it’s participation in 2025 in the July Dereham Blues Festival, where it will host several live bands in its grounds and provide food, drink, and of course great music, for guests from far and wide. Our Apartments An apartm ent for everyone Our range of apartments cater for singles & couples, families with children, and guests with pets. Our range includes 3 ground floor apartments, perfect those with mobility needs. We frequently play host to guests working in the area comprising 2, 3 or more individuals where our cost per head is extremely competitive. View images and layouts in our Gallery Facilities Everything you need for your stay As soon as you arrive you'll find ample free parking very close to your apartment. If you've arrived by push/motor bike you can lock it in our garage overnight . Opposite Glendower is a 75 yard footpath to Morrisons Supermarket where you can get all your supplies until 10pm. Morrisons also has a café and petrol station. Were just a 2 minute walk into town where you'll find a wide range of shops, restaurants and pubs - including our own pub - The Cock! Some apartments already have a washing machine but there is also a free-to-use communal washing machine and tumble dryer. We provide travel cots (free), and also extra adult beds. Extra bedding/towels/toiletries are available. Cleaning during your stay is provided on request. In the summer we have a large rear garden where the kids can play and adults can relax. BBQ provided on request.

Booking Terms Please take a moment to read our terms and conditions Payment Details A deposit is required with all bookings. The remainder can be paid on arrival (or in advance if you wish) We accept all mainstream cards, cash, bank transfer. Glendower House is a trading style of, and is managed by, ‘Huge Ltd’. Payments are therefore payable to Huge Ltd. *Cancellation and refunds In the event of your booking being cancelled or shortened we will fully refund your payment provided it is more than 7 days before your booked arrival date. If cancellation occurs within 7 days of arrival a cancellation fee of 25% will occur, with the balance of any advance payment reimbursed, or invoiced where payment was not made in advance. If cancellation occurs within 2 days of arrival the first night will be payable, or 50% of the complete booking amount (in the case of a multi-night stay) - whichever is the greater. If payment was made in advance the balance after the first day fee will be reimbursed. A ‘No-Show, or a ‘Curtailment of Stay’ (i.e. change after commencement of stay) will result in the full amount of your original booking being charged. To avoid misunderstanding we recommend you consider insuring against cancellation. Non-Availability We would only cancel your booking if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would attempt to offer you alternative accommodation, however if this was not possible, or was unacceptable to you, then we would refund all monies paid by you. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund. Arrival & Departure Your accommodation is available to you from 2.30pm on the day of your arrival, unless otherwise arranged. Please be ready to leave your accommodation by 10.30am on the day of departure. Your bill for the accommodation and any extra s or services taken during your stay, if not already paid in advance, is payable prior to departure.
